The Budd’s had five children but it was Grace that interested Albert Fish.  Grace was only ten but a very pretty girl.  Albert Fish told Grace’s parents, Delia and Edward that his sister’s daughter was having a party and that if they didn’t mind he could take Grace along, she would enjoy herself.  They agreed and they left hand in hand.  They never saw her alive again, on the 27 May 1928 Grace Budd died.  Albert Fish took Grace to a cottage in Irvington where he strangled her and then dismembered the body.    Certain parts of her body were selected and taken home to make a stew.  Over the next nine days he kept returning to the house to collect more pieces which he also ate.

He was not arrested for this murder until six years later.  When he told the police what had happened to Grace they went to the cottage where they found 31 bones belonging to a young girl.  Near the bones were some beads which were later identified as being part of her rosary which she had been wearing.  They also found two of the implements used in this brutal crime, a rusted saw and a meat cleaver.
